LOOK Up In The Sky! It's a Bird. It's a Plane. It's Potty Trained Boy!

So here he is in all his glory. 100% potty trained. Hallelujah. Amen and Amen! He is quite possibly the happiest 3 year old in town. Though not as happy as me, Mommy Dearest, who no longer has to change nasty, stinky doodies that have oozed up the back of the size 5 diaper for the last 3 years, 1 month, and 20 days. Not that I'm counting or anything.

(with his mouth full of junk food as a "reward")

Of course, he IS a little unorthodox in the way he goes to the bathroom, for he vehemently REFUSES to stand up to pee. And when he sits ... well, as you can see, it's not exactly how you or I would.

It's actually a very convoluted affair. First, Grady gets on the potty facing the toilet to pee. Then he hops off to turn around and poop. Finally, he turns back around to piddle a little more. And if you're a parent out there reading this, you're probably as grossed out as I am, as you KNOW that somewhere in the middle of this I should be wiping his tush BEFORE he's dragging it all over the toilet seat to change positions.

*ahem* ... yeah ...

Thankfully, for the most part, it's all landing in the toilet. That is, when he doesn't have the sudden urge to pee WHILE pooping. Because when that happens, it's game over for me.

See, Grady hasn't mastered "the tuck" ... so we've had an incident or two where he's been facing forward on the potty, and his impressively high stream has hit the shower curtain, wall, bath mat, and his shirt.

So far he's missed his head. Thank goodness for small victories.

But ... Send. More. Wipes.

I love how he does this. I really do. I'm also very impressed that just over three you managed to potty train him. :)

You need to find a six or seven year old boy and borrow him for a week. Big boys always stand to pee. Little boys tend to want to follow suit. ha. Then again...Harrison gets distracted easily and still pees everywhere at times. So really, no way is perfect.

Yahoo for your big boy and his Momma! And he looks totally adorable in his new undies! I am still laughing about his face-forward, face-back maneuver!

Yay! That is so exciting! One of the best milestones for sure! :)
We always used a bit of waded up toilet paper to tuck the wiener in so that they weren't peeing all over. However, the usually preferred to stand and pee. I've heard that throwing a "target" into the toilet can help get boys excited about standing and peeing. Like a few Cheerios or something? Try that (if you haven't already). :)

This is way way TMI but your blog doesn't seem to mind so away I go: DON'T DO IT. Boys standing up to pee is terrible. Even if they aim correctly (which they rarely do) they splash and that splash is urine filled an your bathroom will continually smell like a men's restroom. With Tiger he sits and I plan on it remaining so as long as he lives at home, of course when we go out he can stand but I just don't want to deal with the stink and I don't see how sitting demasculates, although that is the only good argument for standing I have heard. Congrats Grady!

OMG that is so cute! He looks so proud to be wearing his big boy underwear and he is so smart to come up with a way that works for him.

After years of cleaning up after all of my boys, I instituted the rule that all males will sit when using the bathroom at my house. I am so thankful that the days of pee splattered walls are behind us. :)

I have never seen anything that funny involving potty training (and I have a picture of my brother at that age on the potty wearing a pj shirt and a captains hat).

I love it!
