We did it. We moved into the 21st Century. We finally converted...
... from a PC to a Mac!
Yahoo!!!
We have been researching (ad nauseaum) computers for the past 6 months and witnessed a majority of our friends making the switch. As we're definitely followers and needed to be part of the "in crowd", we too decided to move to a Mac when our desktop began crapping out out us.
The biggest decision was ... whether we buy the iMac desktop or the MacBook laptop. Matt really wanted the MacBook for its size and ease and the ability to use the computer anywhere in the house. I really liked the big screen of the iMac and ... the big screen of the iMac. Oh yeah, did I already mention that I liked the big screen of the iMac?
Yesterday we went to the Apple store and bought our new computer. C'mon, you already know which one we got. We left there with every accessory known to man; wireless connections, Mac.com, iWorks, Time Capsule, Firewire cords, Apple Care, and a printer.
I'm squealing with delight and am trying my darnedest to not open up the box and begin using it now. We have it all packed up and ready to be shipped to India next week.
We're so new to this Mac thing. For those of you who have already moved over to the other side... tell me, is there anything else I should check out with our new computer?

I will be watching these comments like a hawk. I'm on a PC and when it's time to upgrade, I'm seriously considering a Mac. Glad you're loving it so far!
Found you by way of Mrs.4444 (sometimes I just blog-surf). I am a Mac user/advocate. We have the Mac desktop and had an iBook before that. I love both, but love, love, love the big screen of the desktop (like you).
I HIGHLY advise you to get the apple care plan (if you haven't already). We have it with all of our apple products and have used it on several occasions (not to say Apple makes defective products, but I have two kids who seem to drop/spill/break electronics all to often).
I love both iphoto and imovie! Yu can make some really cool things. And ichat is great if you have other mac users in distant places (I live in Illinois and my parents are in Canada and we chat all the time).
Sorry about the rambling. Holler if you have any questions! :)
We're Mac people! Love it. You won't believe the ease. And I love that it is all in one - no tower. The girls can easily upload their Flip movies (the next thing you need if you don't have one) or their pix or even load their Ipods! You will just love it! gush. gush. gush.
Thought of one more thing you might want to purchase given your last post. Cans of air to blow the dog hair out of the keyboard. It works pretty well, but I haven't found anything 100% effective.
I'm jealous. We recently bought a new Dell PC- I got a deal (I'm always out for deal!)- so I've got a while before I can consider it again, but I'm sure you're going to LOVE it!
I really wanted a Mac but my husband outright refused for reasons unbenowst to me and i didn't care THAT much so... Having a new 'puter is SO exciting though isn't it?
I'm afraid that I'm too used to PCs to switch, though I'd love to. I mean, what would I do without my right click? You'll have to fill us in on how the transition goes, once you get all set up in India!
I am waaay to scared to upgrade - I'm such a Luddite...
The Farmer got me the Spaceship (iMac with 24 inch screen) over a month ago. Never looked back. It's AWESOME. Very easy and intuitive to operate.
It's insane I love it so much. Did I mention that it's crazy fun? We got everything (including the Windows, Excel, Power Point & Entourage programs for Mac),
I love my spaceship and I'm never going back.

Welcome to Mac world! We switched to the iMac in December. The best thing is to buy Mac for Dummies. Seriously. There are things that you think, pah, I can do this! But it is SO different than those 'other' computers. One of my favorite programs is iMovie. Love love love making videos and finally being able to use all my iTunes library together!
Enjoy the Mac. After a few months it really is like you've had it forever. And Mac allows you to partition your drive so we even have a Windows drive as well to run games for our son. It's called BootCamp. Look into it!

Gonna have to let me know how it works... we need to get somthing new soon! India in ONE week? I "met" you leaving Isreal & your already off on your next adventure!
Have a super fourth!
I wanted to mention to you that the Apple stores have free classes. If you have time - check it out before you leave.

P.S. Where are you moving to in India? I think some of us would like to follow along on your journey.
OK, seriously, you're gonna kick me outta here for too many comments, but I wanted to mention that you can have a techie set up your Apple mouse so that it "right clicks".

Oh, I'm too wimpy to switch over. My parents both have iMacs and love them. My mom can even do all her own tech work by using the iMacs for Dummies book I got her. Me? I'll stick with my Win XP laptop because that much CHANGE would probably put me over the edge.
You're a braver soul than I!
Happy Dance! We're a Mac family too! I keep telling Hubs I need an MacBook... I've almost got him worn down. Happy 4th of July!
You are going to LOVE it. I would marry my iMac if I could.
Thanks for coming by my blog and for particiapting in SITS!
I heart my MAC big time. I will never go back.
As youc an tell fromt he comments, youare going to LOVE the Mac. My Max says that he says dropped to third place in our house.
First comes, Mac
then comes Charlie
which leaves Max vying for third with our cat, Rascal.
Can I say how jealous I am??
Seriously? That is awesome..I sooo want a Mac.
Lucky girl.

I am full of MAC envy right now. I'd like to take my Vista PC and toss it in a landfill.
