What's Next... Mom Jeans?

... which I'd almost take since I still haven't received ANY of the clothes I've ordered online.

But seriously folks, I had a very adult day today. I fired another maid. I attended my first PTA meeting. I played Bunco.

In other news...

We got word that our stuff arrived in Chennai last week, and after clearing customs, it will be delivered on Thursday afternoon. I'm so excited to see everything that we packed up 3 months ago; especially our bed. We have not had a good night's sleep since we arrived. The Consulate provided bed is smaller than we're used to, and it collapses into the center to create a valley. A valley of discomfort, which Matt calls "Back-ache Canyon."

We discovered that we have a banana tree in our backyard. As I don't venture out in the back very often, I never noticed it. They're not ripe yet, but when they are watch out! We found out we also have a mango tree in the yard. But the mangoes are nearing the end of the season, so we will have to wait until next year to enjoy them.

I think I may have actually hired a permanent housemaid (the 4th one). However, she's not able to start until mid-October, as that's when her current employers leave India. So for now I'm still maid-less and stuck cleaning my own crappers. Thankfully, she is able to babysit in the evenings, so I've hired her for every Saturday night until we leave India so that we can go out on our own and enjoy a date-night without the kids.

The monsoon season is slowly rearing its ugly head. It's starting to pour here, and the roads and infrastructure are not able to sustain the overflowing waters. It's quite warm out when it rains, and insanely humid. My hair is thoughtfully taking on a whole new style of frizz. I now have a halo of hair that stands up about an inch on top of my entire head. Yeah, I'm a looker.

Here's something else to see...

Our Banana Tree

The Bunco "winners"
Prizes were all foods from the host's pantry! I got artichoke hearts. :)

I can imagine your excitement that you'll finally have your own stuff again. I remember the happy dance I did when I finally unpacked my big old American coffee mugs as opposed to the dainty coffee cups of Europe. My first month in Germany, I was drinking my coffee out of a soup bowl! Having my mugs instantly made me feel better!

Am I allowed to be jealous that you will have fruit in your own backyard and someone to clean the house? ;-)

I'm so excited for you that your stuff is coming! We play Bunco here on my street. I had never heard of it until moving to Ohio, but it's fun--no thinking involved; just getting out of th house, drinking wine, and rolling dice! I'm jealous of the prizes too--I might suggest we start doing canned goods here instead of cash--what do you think? LOL

Yeah personal possessions! Enjoy. I've never played Bunco, it sounds like fun though. I'm so glad you hired a maid. Even better that you have a sitter. Enjoy that too.

The trees sound awesome. My kids would love that.

Aren't you doubly glad your hair gel made the trip with you?

Those trees are so cool! I'm sorry to hear about your frizz. I KNOW how that is, sister. :)

I know what you mean about not sleeping in your own bed. We go to the beach for a while every summer...and I always miss my own bed.

And how is it that everyone has played Bunco except me?! :-)

How is it that you can go to India and find people to play Bunco with and a babsitter and I haven't befriended anyone in the Midwest for 3 years?

WheresMyAngels said...

Second what tenakim said!! lol

I've lived here for 15 1/2 years and still need to find a babysitter.

Okay, maybe the rest of us need to hire you (cyberly speaking) to hire our babysitters and create bunco groups!

I've been in this house 10 years and the thought of finding a non-relative babysitter creeps me out. And I've passed joining a bunco group... because I have no sitter!

You are so motivated!

I WANT A BANANA TREE AND A MANGO TREE IN MY BACKYARD!! However, I like living in Michigan, and I don't think I'll be able to grow one here...

India has Bunco??? ;-) You are rocking it out there girlfriend!

I admire you....I think I would be complaining by now.

I see a girl with marshmallows. I rarely win at Bunko, but marshmallows would have made me cheat (somehow) to get them. I bet you can't find marshmallows over there!

I see you're a mediocre blogger. So am I :)

Oh my how amazing that banana tree is! I was introduced to bunco when I moved to the wilds of Okieland, amazingly competitive!

Thanks for dropping in today.
