I have had the pleasure of going to the pediatricians office not once ... not twice ... but three times this week!
The first time was last Tuesday for a rash on Grady's face and tush. The diagnosis? Eczema.
The second time was on Friday for the fever, the sore throat, the drool. The diagnosis? None.
And today's visit was the piece de resistance. We went in for bumps on his hands and feet. Bumps and blisters that appeared out of nowhere... three days after his sore throat and fever. Sound familiar? Do you know the dreaded diagnosis? Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease.
But wait, there's more!
Not only does he have Hand, Foot & Mouth Disease ... AND Eczema ... he ALSO has a raging case of ...
... Anal Strep.
Don't even ask ... I have no answers.
But you should totally stand close to me because I carry a lucky rabbit's foot in my pocket, and this past week is proof positive that I have hit the trifecta!

Poor kiddo:(. I hope things get better soon.
I am so sorry for you and Grady.
I hope he feels better soon!
Poor guy! I hope he is feeling better soon and that life slows down a little for you.
OOOOMMMMGGGG! I have no words. My girls had HF&M when they were little and it was terrible. I have never experienced anal strep, but the poor little guy.
:-(
Seriously>? Hey! Good times!
Good lord Jill. Hang in there. And at least your hair looks good?
You're handling this much better than I would. Sounds like you to bathe everyone in bleach.
Oh my gosh! I had to laugh. I am so sorry. That's truly unflipping-believable. Wow.
Hang in there. Don't start drinking...at least not alone.
I think "anal strep" is the most horrifying thing I've heard all day. Make sure to record that one in his baby book (and then show it to his future girlfriends for revenge). Poor Mom!
I am not going to ask and I'm not going to Google...because I don't want to jinx myself.
If I could, I'd pour you a huge glass of wine right now.
Big glass o'vino or cocktail headed your way Friday night, no ifs, ands or buts!
Poor Grady!
And poor Mom! :(
I admit I have never heard of anal strep, and I'm thinking I'm glad of it...
Hope this all gets better soon!
Oh, wow! Your poor little guy is a magnet for all that stuff!!! That happens when they start day care. They are in contact with a whole bunch of kids and at their age they tend to stick their hands in each others mouths, ears, noses and spread viruses all over the place. It ain't not pretty, I know. My daughter was sick for at least 9 months after she started day care. They do eventually outgrow it though and their immune systems are stronger for it. All I can say is "That too shall pass." Stay strong!
Just what you don't need...again! Laugh or cry. Maybe a bit of both? About 5 years ago, Owen had HF&M, and he was nice enough to pass along the viral infection to me. THE WORST THROAT INFECTION I HAVE EVER HAD. So, here's hoping you and the other kiddos don't get it. You are definitely going to need a drink this Friday!
THat poor thing! He must be miserable, and you too. I hope he gets better soon. Anal Strep? Even with 4 boys I don't remember that one but it sounds dreadful.
I so don't want to know what anal strep is. I'm still traumatized enough thankyouverymuch from Maya's bout with hand, foot and mouth at that same age...
Hang in there, both of you.
PS Local wisdom here touts goat's milk for healing the mouth sores, not that Maya would touch the stuff when I tried.

Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa (ninjiom-hk.cwahi.net) may be another solution to sore throat. i know a lot of people use it, its also non alcoholic, though it's effectiveness is not as good as alcohol based cough medicine, but it's still good to use on not so serious sore throat. Hope you are getting well soon!!!
oh no! poor Grady, poor you! hope everyone feels better soon. and I second the idea of keeping documentary evidence for future girlfriends...
Yikes! This sounds extremely un-fun.
Wow, what a week!!
I have been sending you guys healing thoughts all week. But also, I have to thank you, because thinking about this post makes me giggle just a little - at the gross terminology - and girlfriend, I need all the giggles I can get these days! Big hugs.
So many hugs and good thoughts are being sent your way... and maybe a stiff drink or three!
gah! that sounds like a doozy. hand, foot, and mouth is the worst. healthy hugs to yoU!
