The Irony Of It All ...

Can I admit something? I've never taken the girls for their well check-ups.

Sure, they're completely up-to-date on their immunizations. And then some. But aside from their State Department and school medical clearance forms (both of which had been signed without doing anything more than taking their temperature and their blood pressure), and some sort of ailment that always had us doctor's office bound at least once a year, they haven't had a true check-up in ages. Well ... ever.

Until today.

So imagine my surprise when after taking their vitals, doing a complete once-over, a blood test, a vision, test, and mini-behavior screening, it was confirmed that both girls have absolutely perfect hearing.

Now, if I could just get them to actually LISTEN ...

Yeah, hearing and listening. Don't always happen at the same time for kids their age...

We went through a period with our kids, well two of them anyway, where they had to repeat back whatever instructions we had given them. Drove everyone crazy, but it helped.

I must admit I tend to have selective hearing with them at times, there's only so much Pokemon one can listen to.

Oh well that doesn't shock me at all. Mine have perfect hearing too. Yet, they don't hear me. Perfect vision too, but they can't seem to see things RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM! Ahem.

It's funny that you made it this long without it. Most schools here require it for admittance. Pre-school, daycare, kindergarten, middle school...

that's the mystery.

i also need to figure out how to make them able to find things. because even when i give them DIRECT INSTRUCTIONS of where something is, they can't find it.

I am ashamed to report that my daughter had temporary deafness that was discovered during her well-child check (viral). God knows how long she had it, but them's the brakes when you breed to more than a 1/1 ratio, I guess.
