"Name That Rash"

Can you identify this rash in two easy photos? We sure can't.

I noticed this rash on Sheridan's back late this afternoon and my mind immediately began to race. She's had the varicella vaccination, so I don't think it's a mild case of chickenpox. Is it? She's up to date on all her other vaccinations so I know it's not measles, mumps, or rubella. What could it be?

The internet is a terrible thing if you're a worrier like me. Type in "skin rashes" under Google images and you'll see some of the nastiest rashes ever. Go ahead, I'll wait.

She has not complained of any itching and I've yet to see her scratch. She hasn't had a fever, a runny nose or a sore throat. My first reaction was to think it could be impetigo. But she doesn't have any of the blisters, fluid, or crust. She just has a tan colored rash over her entire back, and a few sporadic spots on her stomach.

I'm taking her to the doctor tomorrow, though I have little faith that he'll be able to correctly diagnose her. Can you?

These photos were taken in the bathroom, after her bath. They're not the best shots, and the color is a tad off. But you can enlarge them and get the idea...

Name that rash. (OK, first off, so sorry she has a rash, really. I do hope that it clears up ASAP) But, name that rash???? Made me laugh and now I feel ooober guilty for laughing at her rash.

I'm not saying what it is or isn't, but it looks just like one of Julianna's excema flares. Good luck figuring it out.

My kids get stuff like that all the time... it is usually because of something they have eaten..change in laundry detergent? Have they been swimming? Can't name it... sorry! Is it getting worse?

Hand, Foot and Mouth? Itchy, scaly hands and blotches together might indicate such
(don't panic it is not any connection to the cow/sheep nast foot&mouth - just a widespread and quickspreading childhood bug)

Name that rash? Ringworm! Scabbies! Hives! Pityriasis Rosea!

Okay, so no clue. This is when I dose with Benadryl and hope for the best.

I don't this it is anything to worry about. It looks alot like my kids skin and they all have ezcema. I usually don't notice it but it gets worse after a bath with all the heat and moisture. Try some lotion and some over the counter hydracortisone cream that should take care of it.
This is my best guess over the internet and just know that I am not a doctor only a RN and a mom.

As above, I vote Pityriasis Rosea. It's a virus, no one knows anything about it, it affects girls/women more, where you are is probably the right season and it just looks like it to me.
Btw, when I had it, my dr. suggested ringworm. When I suggested the virus instead (having spent some time researching it) he went away and looked it up before coming back to agree with me. That was a long time ago, though- 25 years- and Google is faster now;).

It recurred once and is no problem, so I will hope for your sake that is the answer.

Hmm some of it looks like eczema and some like chicken pox. I also thought of some kind of food allergy. I know this isn't helping you any but my kids have had rashes too. For a virus, food allergy and eczema. Sorry I can't be of any help.

I'm with G in Berlin - it's Pityriasis Rosea. I had it when I was a teenager, and the doctor had trouble diagnosing it; in fact she had to consult her old med school textbooks. It's totally harmless and will be gone within a couple of months. More info here:

Sounds like that Pity...whatever thing is promising. Don't you love the internet?

My littlest one gets a rash like this if there is any detergent change, or soap or lotion change. any chance someone bought a different brand or something?

I'm going to guess allergic reaction/hives. Do you have an RMO there? Get thee to the RMO - or try benadryl if the doc is out of town. Good luck.

I'm not sure, maybe some kind of bug? Hopefully it will disappear in a couple of days.

I've no idea... but I sure hope she's ok!

Is there a reward if we guess it right?

Seriously, hope all clears up and it's nothing serious!
